Basically, poker is a game played by a group of people around a circular table. The goal is to make the best hand possible. The best hand is usually a five-card combination, such as an Ace high straight flush. In some games, players may be able to use “wild cards” to create a five-card hand.<\/p>\n
In games that use a deck of cards, the cards are dealt to players one at a time. Cards may be dealt face up or face down.<\/p>\n
When a player’s hand exceeds the minimum amount of cards, the hand is called “all in.” A player is said to be all in when he places all of his chips in the pot. He then wins the entire pot if no other player calls.<\/p>\n
When a player’s hand is not quite all in, he is said to be “folding.” He discards his hand and puts his chips in the pot, which is the same amount as his previous bet.<\/p>\n
Poker is played with a deck of 52 cards. The cards are dealt clockwise around the table. The player with the best five-card hand wins the pot. If the highest card is not the best hand, it is called the “backdoor flush.”<\/p>\n
Some variants use a special fund called the “kitty,” which is divided among players who are still in the game. Kitty chips are used to pay for the cost of a new deck of cards.<\/p>\n
